This notice explains how Standard Language Centre ("SLC", "we") collects and uses your personal data, as required by the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia).
1. Who we are
Standard Language Centre, with branches at 2B, Jalan Wawasan 4/5, Bandar Baru Ampang, 68000 Ampang, Selangor and B-2-3, Megan Avenue 2, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, 50450 Kuala Lumpur.
2. What we collect
- Contact form: your name, email, phone number, nationality, the course and branch you are interested in, how you prefer to be contacted (for example your WeChat ID) and your message.
- English placement test: your name, email, phone number or WeChat ID (optional), your learning goal, your answers, your score and how long you took.
- Job applications sent to hr@standard.edu.my: the CV and details you choose to send.
- Website use: Google Analytics and Google Ads use cookies to record which pages are visited and which advert or link brought you here. This does not include your name or email.
Your name and email are required for the contact form and the placement test. Without them we cannot reply to you or save your test result. Everything else is optional unless the form says otherwise.
3. Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and give you information about our courses, fees and schedules.
- To score your placement test, recommend a course level and contact you about your result.
- To enrol you, and to arrange visa support if you ask for it.
- To consider your job application.
- To understand how our website and adverts are used, so we can improve them.
- To send you course news and offers, only if you agreed by ticking the marketing box. You can stop these at any time (see section 6).
4. Who can see it
Only SLC staff who need it to help you. We also use service providers who store or process data for us, such as our website host, our email provider and Google (Analytics and Ads). Some of them may store data outside Malaysia. We do not sell your personal data. We will share it with authorities only when the law requires us to.
5. How long we keep it
- Placement tests that are not finished: deleted after 30 days.
- Finished placement tests: deleted after 2 years.
- Enquiries, enrolment records and job applications: only as long as we need them for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires.
6. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct data that is wrong or out of date;
- stop sending you marketing emails (you can also use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email);
- delete your data, or stop using it, where we no longer need it.

7. Children
If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to fill in our forms with you. A parent or guardian can contact us about their child's data at any time.
8. Keeping your data safe
Only authorised staff can see the data you send us, and access is protected by individual logins. If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top of this page.
